Based in Westbury, New York, Kevin T. Ellis—performing under the moniker KevinDaNavigator—is a dynamic Latin independent guitarist, singer-songwriter, and recording artist. Known for his genre-defying sound, he seamlessly blends elements of Latin Jazz, Brazilian Latin Jazz, Caribbean Latin, Bluegrass, R&B, Latin rock, and alternative rock, Hard Rock, driven by expressive vocals, intricate guitar arrangements, and a balance of acoustic and electric instrumentation.

Born in the South Bronx, New York, on June 22, 1993, Kevin was raised in a supportive, two-parent household where his unique musical sensibilities began to take root at an early age. In 2006, his family relocated to Westbury, where he attended and graduated from both Westbury Middle School and Westbury High School.

Following high school, Kevin explored several higher education paths, attending Nassau Community College, Vaughn College, and NYADI. Recognizing that traditional academics did not align with his professional passions, he pivoted his focus toward technical training, successfully earning a welding certification from Goodwin University.

Ultimately, Kevin’s innate creative drive led him to transition away from trade work to fully commit to his true calling. Today, he channels his diverse life experiences and technical discipline into a full-time music career, establishing himself as a compelling and versatile voice in the modern Rock and Latin music landscapes.

The Origin of "KevinDaNavigator"

The inspiration behind Kevin’s distinct moniker traces back to a memorable moment during his high school years in Westbury. While studying the Age of Exploration in Ms. Terry’s social studies class, Kevin found himself deeply fascinated by historical explorers and navigators like Prince Henry the Navigator, Christopher Columbus, Vasco da Gama, and Juan Ponce de León.

This fascination came to life during high school Spirit Week. Embracing the theme wholeheartedly, Kevin decided to dress up as a conquistador, complete with a bag full of physical atlas maps. The creative and elaborate outfit caught the attention of his classmate and close friend, Franklin, and Franklin's girlfriend. Finding the look both highly amusing and impressive, Franklin playfully compared Kevin’s map-heavy ensemble to Prince Henry the Navigator. The comparison stuck, and Franklin dubbed him "KevinDaNavigator"—a title Kevin proudly earned and eventually adopted as his official artistic identity.

Musical Background & Evolution

Kevin has been playing guitar on and off for 16 years, heavily trained in Jazz, Bluegrass, Dixie land Country music, Brazilian Jazz, Caribbean Latin style, Flamenco and Spanish guitar style. Throughout his career, he has played in multiple bands as guitarist and songwriter, these bands including:

• Designs (2005-2008): A group formed with his childhood friend Lorenzo King.

• Underground Talents Against the Machines(2009-2011): A New York Underground Pop Punk Rock Band.

• Cooking BEETS(2012-2024): A former New York underground jazz-rock band.

After his early participation in those bands when the groups he was apart of disbanded, Kevin shifted his focus entirely to pursuing a solo career to share his musicianship, dynamic vocals message of peace, unity, celebration of artistic expression.

Kevin first learned how to play the guitar at 16 years old through his High School Jazz saxophone teacher when Kevin joined the Westbury High School Jazz Band in 2009 then after Kevin graduated from Westbury High School on June 2011 his Aunt brought him a Les Paul starter Guitar kit for Kevin’s birthday and graduation present. For many years Kevin has been trying to break in to the music industry whenever he finding his sound and style during his development as artist. from then forward Kevin became more a self taught multi-guitarist artist who works with both electric and acoustic guitars and has featured electric Sarod(fretless guitar) and Banjos in his work. He is known for blending genres to create a sound grounded in feeling and authenticity. On his official channels, he produces over 190 videos ranging from original solo tracks to educational content such as "Nautical Theory"

His symbols is inspired Hindu and Buddhist mythology Sanskrit. He also practiced Mahayana Buddhism in a secular form with Hindu imagery.
